The 13th Contemporary Art in the Traditional Museum Festival organized by the St Petersburg PRO ARTE Foundation and the North-Western Branch of the National Centre for Contemporary Arts will take place in St Petersburg from 26 September till 25 October, 2015. The Festival is supported by the St Petersburg Committee on Culture, Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and Mikhail Prokhorov Foundation.

This is the first festival uniting different museums of St Petersburg in one event which was established in 2000. For one month the traditional museum spaces turn into contemporary art venues. Over the last 14 years 170 projects were shown in 70 St Petersburg museums by artists from 11 countries.

In 2015, the Festival will take place in the museums on the Vassilievsky Isalnd. Invited curator is Alisa Prudnikova, director of the Ural Branch of the National Centre for Contemporary Arts and founder of the Ural Industrial Biennial of Contemporary Art. The theme of the 13th Festival is “Hyperlocal: Great Discoveries”.

  • On Saturday the 26th and Sunday the 27th September admission to all festival museums will be free;
  • A special bike route will be organized between museums on the 26th and 27th of September
